Dryer Vent Cleaning

One of the most commonly overlooked hazards in our homes today is the clogged dryer vent. A clogged dryer vent can lead to the overheating and eventual failure of the mechanical and electrical parts within the dryer. In some cases this could even lead to home fires. A simple solution is to have your dryer vent cleaned regularly. When your dryer vent ductwork is cleaned, it will increase the flow of moist air to the outside resulting in a more efficient drying cycle, decreasing costly energy bills.

Sinclaire Enterprises use a cleaning technique that utilizes an air pressurized line system. The line is placed into the dryer vent and is then fed through the dryer duct using air pressure. As the line passes through the duct, it forces back any loosened lint back toward our collection device. After the dryer vent is cleaned, the technician will re-connect the dryer vent to your clothes dryer accordingly.

Dryers and washing machines were involved in an average of 13,300 home structure fires per year between 1999 and 2002. These fires caused an average of 10 deaths, 280 injuries and $97 million in direct property damage per year.

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

  • Do not operate the dryer without a lint filter. Clean lint filters before or after each use and remove accumulated lint from around the drum.
  • Make sure that the dryer is plugged into an outlet suitable for its electrical needs as overloaded electrical outlets can result in blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers.
  • Turn the dryer off when leaving the home.
  • Keep the dryer area clear of combustibles (i.e., boxes or clothing).
  • Dryers should be installed and serviced by a professional.
  • Have gas-powered dryers inspected by a professional regularly to ensure that the gas line and connection are intact.
